What a CMS actually gives you

Control over the parts that change, and protection for the parts that should not. A good build lets you edit text, swap images, add pages and publish news, while leaving layout, structure and styling alone. That distinction matters. Most broken sites we are asked to rescue were broken by a well meaning edit to something that was never meant to be edited.

Choosing the right one

WordPress powers an enormous share of the web for good reason. It is familiar, well supported, and there is a plugin for nearly everything. That last point is also its weakness, because every plugin is code from someone else running on your site.

For simpler sites, a lighter or custom CMS is often better. Fewer moving parts, faster loading, and far less to keep updated. We will tell you honestly which fits, rather than defaulting to whatever is quickest for us.

Plugin development

Sometimes what you need does not exist, or exists only inside a bloated plugin that does forty other things. We build bespoke functionality: booking systems, custom search, integrations with software you already use, calculators, and member areas.

A purpose built plugin is usually smaller, faster and more secure than an off the shelf one, because it does exactly one thing.

Training and handover

Every CMS build includes training, because software you cannot use is not an asset. We walk you through the parts you will actually touch, and leave you with notes written in plain English.

Keeping it safe

A CMS is software, and software needs updating. Out of date plugins are among the most common ways a small business site gets compromised. We offer maintenance so that does not become your problem.
